Inquiries into Murdaf’s alleged financial crimes continue
Prosecutor Creighton Waters began the morning by asking Murdaugh about the timeline of his fraudulent financial activity. The state has suggested that Murdaugh was desperate for money and was in a financially precarious position leading up to the June 7 murders.
Waters also pressured Murdog to reveal the names of the customers he had defrauded.
Waters said, “These were real people that you looked in the eye and convinced them that everything was right.”
Murdaugh has repeated various versions of an apologetic confession of stealing money from clients whom he considered close friends and cared for.
“There are all kinds of things you know, to be able to look at yourself in the mirror. You lie to yourself, I think there’s self justification for these bad things,” Murdaugh testified.
